A commodity management system provided with: an RFID tag (102) secured above a reader waveguide (101); a tag position table storage unit (106) for storing tag information about, and the secured position of, the RFID tag (102) in association with each other; a commodity position table storage unit (105) for storing identification information about, and the allocated position of, a commodity (108) in association with each other; a commodity management table storage unit (107) for storing the identification information about the commodity (108) and the tag information about the RFID tag (102) in association with each other; a tag read unit (103) for performing a read from the RFID tag (102) by electromagnetic field coupling via the reader waveguide (101); and a commodity presence determination unit for determining, on the basis of the result of reading the RFID tag (102), whether the commodity (108) corresponding to the RFID tag (102) is arranged. This enables commodity management to be performed easily even when commodity arrangement is changed. |
