The relationship between production effort for a position determination system, on the one hand, and of positioning accuracy, on the other hand, is improved by using two sensors in the device in order to determine the position of a mobile portable device, specifically a sensor for detecting the motion of the mobile portable device and a sensor for recognising the approach of the mobile portable device towards one or a plurality of reference beacons, wherein, from knowledge of a position of the one or plurality of reference beacons and from the data produced by the motion-detecting sensor, the positon of the mobile portable device relative to the one or plurality of reference beacons is calculated. |
