<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an offgas combustion device capable of surely preventing the dispersion of methane contained in offgas in the atmosphere and not requiring any auxiliary fuel when the combustion treatment of the methane in the offgas is carried out. <P>SOLUTION: A second offgas line L32 communicating with a combustion catalyst 7 is branched from an offgas line L3 communicating with a burner 4 from a methane gas separation device 1. A switching device V4 is disposed at the branching point of the offgas line L3. At the second gas line L32, a heat exchanger 5, a heater 6, offgas temperature measuring devices 21 and 22, and a catalyst temperature measuring device 23 for measuring the surface temperature of the combustion catalyst 7 are arranged. An exhaust line Lx through which the exhaust gas of the combustion catalyst 7 flows is merged with a combustion exhaust gas line Lx2 and communicates with the heat exchanger 5. An air supply device 8 is installed to supply combustion air to the combustion catalyst 7.
