PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a structure of a precursor (the precursor for manufacturing an Nb<SB>3</SB>Sn superconductive wire) ensuring favorable workability and exhibiting high strength and excellent superconductive characteristics of the Nb<SB>3</SB>Sn superconductive wire, and the Nb<SB>3</SB>Sn superconductive wire. SOLUTION: The precursor for manufacturing the superconductive wire has a superconductive matrix part that a plurality of Nb-based filaments made of Nb or an Nb-based alloy are disposed, and a diffusion barrier layer and a stabilized copper layer on its outer periphery in a Cu-Sn-based alloy. In the superconductive matrix part, a reinforcing member made of pure Nb is disposed and a Ta layer is formed on an outer peripheral surface of the reinforcing member, and an area percentage of the reinforcing part on the cross-section of the precursor is 8-30%.
