<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nucleic acid molecule used as a specific probe or a specific PCR primer for detecting an iron-corrosive methane production bacterium: and to provide a method for detecting a corrosive bacterium. <P>SOLUTION: The nucleic acid molecule comprises a specific base sequence or a complementary sequence thereof. Alternatively, a nucleic acid molecule comprises a partial sequence of the specific sequence or the complementary sequence thereof, wherein the nucleic acid molecule is specifically associated (hybridization) with a base sequence of the specific sequence or the complementary sequence thereof to give a specific probe or a specific PCR primer.
