The apparatus has a metallic tank (6) filled with a dielectric fluid e.g. sulfur hexafluoride, and electrical live conductors (2, 4) arranged to interior of the tank. A cylindrical grading shield cap (12) comprises an equipotential lines deflector (20) made of dielectric material encircling an inner periphery or outer periphery of a cylindrical metallic envelope (18) of the grading shield cap and making projection of the envelope from a side of a free end (18.2). The deflector is not in contact with the free end of the envelope of the grading shield cap.
