PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image recorder which keeps waste paper little, and prevents the occurrence of an image defect. SOLUTION: The image recorder includes: a conveying means that accelerates a long-length recording medium to a predetermined speed from a stopped state, conveys the long-length recording medium and decelerates it to a stopped state; a recording means that records an image on the recording medium, and forms a first test pattern on the recording medium before image recording upon accelerating the recording medium; a reading means that reads the image and the test pattern recorded by the recording means; an image conversion part that converts input image data into image data to be output by the recording means; and a correction means that performs correction of the image data, wherein a controller determines content of the correction performed by the correction means on the basis of first data obtained by reading the first test pattern by the reading means.
