PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique by which causal relationships among collected events can be detected according to the type of event and attributes of geographical areas. SOLUTION: A causal relationship detecting technique uses type relationship tables in which event type relationship information including cause event type information on the types of events as causes and result event type information on the types of events as results, both having occurred in each geographical area, is stored; and a computer acquires real event information on events having occurred in different parts of an area, selects a type relationship table for the area out of the acquired real event information on the basis of a area attribute of the position of occurrence of an event represented by first real event information, extracts event type relationship information from the selected type relationship table on the basis of the first real event information as a condition on the cause event type information, extracts second real event information from the real event information on the basis of the result event type information included in the extracted event type relationship information and the date of the first real event information, and associates the first real event and the second real event.
