The animal drinking trough has multiple drinking trough valves (12) assigned to a strand-like water supply pipe (10), where each drinking trough valve has a housing (13) and a valve body which is assigned to an actuating unit (25). The valve body is lifted by the actuating unit for opening the drinking trough valve. The valve body is lifted only in straight line by a movement of the actuating unit, particularly on a vertical longitudinal central axis (19) of the drinking trough valve.
