PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording device, along with a program, capable of shortening a processing time, while securing accuracy depending on a recording mode. SOLUTION: A printer includes: a recording head for recording on paper conveyed in a conveying direction; a carriage moving back and forth in a scanning direction intersecting with the conveying direction; an end detection sensor arranged on the carriage so as to detect a position of an end of the paper; a receive buffer for acquiring the recording mode setting in which either one of a plurality of recording modes including a high precision mode, middle mode, and high-speed mode, is selected; and a control device for controlling the carriage. The control device moves the carriage in one direction in step S18 so as to pass both side ends of the paper before recording starts when the receive buffer acquires the middle mode in step S11.
