[Class 55 (ii).] Air for internal-combustion engines is moistened by bubbling through a chamber a containing water and divided by an inclined plate terminating below the top into a compartment containing a series of inclined baffle plates, k arranged in zig-zag fashion with outlets k<1> at their lower ends, air being drawn down through water in this compartment and passing through holes j<1> up through water in the main chamber a to the carburetter by engine suction. Air is also bubbled through a compartment d containing lubricating oil and connected by a pipe e to the outlet, which has an apertured plate f and a dampening spring- controlled valve f. Air enters by a distantly controlled valve h. Air rising through the main chamber passes a vertical submerged gauze screen t and through gauze screens s, u above water level. Each baffle plate k has outlets k<1> at the lower end covered with gauze. |
