PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of industrially manufacturing (R)-1,1,1-trifluoro-2-propanol. SOLUTION: The (R)-1,1,1-trifluoro-2-propanol can be efficiently manufactured at high optical purity by having at least one of microorganism selected from a group including Pichia farinosa act on 1,1,1-trifluoro acetone. As the microorganism found in nature is made to act in the method of manufacture, problems in case of using genetically modified organisms, etc. can be avoided, and industrial implementation of the method is easy.
