PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce time until a desired subject is determined as a main subject. SOLUTION: A control method of an image processing system comprises processes of: dividing each image imaged in succession into a plurality of blocks and generating a histogram concerning color components of the image based on a signal value of each block; dividing the generated histogram into a plurality of sections; setting a region concerning images so that, among a plurality of blocks of the image, adjacent blocks whose signal values belong to a same section become one region; calculating evaluation values of respective regions; and determining to track a region having the highest evaluation value, if a determination value calculated by using a difference between the highest evaluation value and the second highest evaluation value exceeds a predetermined threshold value.
