The present invention relates to a moonpool recess door for a pipe layer vessel. The present invention can block seawater and waves when pipe laying equipment is loaded for maintenance by preventing the seawater from being introduced into a recess deck communicated with a moonpool; thereby preventing damage to the equipment and risk factors in operation. According to the present invention, a pipe layer vessel comprises: the recess deck communicated with the moonpool; and an opening and closing structure for opening and closing a path between the moonpool and the recess deck.
