PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect a failure symptom even if any failure is not detected by a diagnostic operation of an elevator after an earthquake. SOLUTION: An apparatus for controlling elevator operation diagnostically operates an elevator that is made to stop the operation thereof in an earthquake to detect a failure. The apparatus for controlling elevator operation includes: a measurement data storage unit 12 for storing traveling data during normal operation; a measurement data storage unit 14 for storing the traveling data during diagnostic operation; and a measurement data comparing device 13 for comparing each traveling data stored in the measurement data storage units 12, 14 with each other to detect a variation in traveling states when any failure is not detected by the diagnostic operation.
