Concentrate for preparing a sealing solution for sealing mail pieces using tap water and method of making same

Provided is a method of preparing a powder mixture comprising combining an acid buffer, a biocide and a dye. This mixture may be hydrated using tap water to produce a solution for sealing mail pieces. The acid buffer keeps the minerals in the tap water in solution thereby preventing scale build-up that would otherwise clog the filters of the sealing unit of a mailing system.
