The present invention relates to a system and a method for controlling street lighting and traffic signals based on intelligent context awareness. More specifically, the present invention relates to a system and a method for controlling street lighting and traffic signals based on intelligent context awareness, comprising: a photographing unit to take a photograph of a predetermined area; a context awareness signal unit to set region of interest (ROI) for sensing the movement of objectives in the photographed area and to generate a sensing signal when the movement of the objective is sensed in the ROI; a context awareness transmission unit to sense the sensing signal of the context awareness signal unit and to generate a lighting control signal, which controls the illumination of the street lighting, and a traffic control signal, which determines the signal change of the traffic signal according to a predetermined algorithm corresponding to the sensing signal; a traffic signal control unit to receive the traffic control signal and to control the traffic signal corresponding to the traffic control signal; and a lighting control unit to receive the lighting control signal and to control the street lighting corresponding to the lighting control signal.
