According to an embodiment of the present invention, provided is a method for determining a payment type by a payment server according to an area. The method includes the steps of: transmitting a card identification number to both a foreign payment related server and a domestic payment related server so that the card identification number can be registered in both the foreign payment related server and the domestic payment related server; receiving payment request information including the card identification number; classifying a payment request area based on the received payment request information; and determining a payment type in correspondence to the payment request area.
