1. A method of preparing a linear macromonomer, comprising:
a) preparing an initiator with at least one terminal halogen group, wherein the initiator contains a degradable linker for each of the terminal halogen groups, the degradable linker selected from the group consisting of a photodegradable linker, an ozonolyzable linker, and a biodegradable linker; b) using the initiator, polymerizing a first monomer through ATRP to form a polymeric halide having at least one terminal halogen group; c) modifying the polymeric halide through a post-polymerization transformation to replace the terminal halogen groups with desired functional end groups, wherein the desired functional end groups are selected from the group consisting of hydroxyl, acrylate, and azide. |
