A method for controlling home appliances using a communication service is disclosed. The method comprises a step of outputting a converted control message to a specific home appliance by receiving a control message for the home appliance from a user terminal through the communication service and converting the control message into a signal type of the specific home appliance based on the control message. The control message is generated using at least one type among a text message, a voice message, and an image message provided by the communication service to control the home appliance in the user terminal.
