A method for providing a smart antenna, when setting a connection between a station (STA) and an access point in a wireless local area network, is started by transmitting a beacon frame by an AP on one antenna beam. The beacon frame is received from the STA which measures a signal quality of the beacon frame. The AP is switched by a different antenna beam and this is repeated until the beacon frame is transmitted on all of the antenna beams. The STA is connected to the AP which transmits the beacon frame having the highest signal quality among the antenna beams. After the STA transmits a probe request frame to the AP, a method similar to the AP responding to a probe request frame transmitted through the multiple antenna beams may be used. |
