The present invention relates to an infrared ray blocking fiber, a method for producing the same, and a use of the same. The infrared ray blocking fiber is produced by mixing a core component of an external core-type composite fiber with an absorptive blocking pigment in a producing step through melt complex spinning, so that effects in blocking radiant heat from external infrared rays can be maintained without the removal of the pigment and a decrease in functions even in unfavorable conditions such as dyeing and post-processing. Also, excellent quick absorbing and drying properties are implemented, and a cooling effect is maximized on a part coming in contact with the inner part of the skin, so that the infrared ray blocking fiber of the present invention is appropriate for summer leisure and sports clothes and is useful as a military camouflage fabric or an outdoor tent fabric.
