PURPOSE: A protective structure and method for a field coil of superconducting rotary machine are provided to improve economic efficiency by reducing amount of electricity flowing in a field winding unit. CONSTITUTION: A field winding unit(12b) winds a superconducting coil. A power unit(15a) supplies power to the field winding unit. A by-pass resistor unit(17) ramifies supplied power.
