PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To create image patterns for detecting unevenness in image density in a length shorter than the circumference of an image carrier and suppress the number of times of the creation to reduce the time required for acquisition of density unevenness information.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes: image pattern creation means 40 (Y, M, C, and K) for forming image patterns for measuring unevenness in image density on a rotatable image carrier as toner images; density detection means 30 for detecting the density of the image patterns formed by the image pattern creation means; rotational position detection means 31 for detecting the position in the direction of rotation of the image carrier on which the image patterns are formed; density unevenness extraction means 204 for extracting information on density unevenness resulting from the rotation period of the image carrier from density information detected by the density detection means; and control means 200 for determining image forming conditions in the image pattern creation means on the basis of the information on density unevenness extracted by the density unevenness extraction means. The image forming apparatus corrects the image forming conditions in the image pattern creation means according to a plurality of pieces of density information at the position in the direction of rotation of the image carrier that is determined on the basis of the information on image density extracted by the density unevenness extraction means. |
