GRINDER AND GRINDING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a grinder and a grinding method in which a processing time can be reduced by giving a specified bending amount to a workpiece quickly at the start of grinding processing.SOLUTION: A grinder 1 performs grinding of a cylindrical workpiece W while bending the workpiece W with a grind stone wheel 43. The grinder 1 comprises, in a control device 70, a bending detection part which detects the bending state in a rotational phase of the workpiece W over the entire circumference in a transient state until the steady state where the workpiece has a specified bending amount over the entire circumference and a speed control part which makes the cutting speed upon re-cutting of the grind stone wheel 43 into the rotational phase of the workpiece W higher than the cutting speed used for grinding processing in the steady state in a case that the bending state detected in the precedent cutting into the rotational phase and the bending state estimated in the precedent cutting are different from each other.
