<p>The present invention describes a method for activating, purifying and drying sub-bituminous coal with the purpose of removing cyanide present in industrial and residual water. The activation method consists in a thermal and chemical treatment under not severe conditions (low temperature and low concentration of reactants), by means of microwaves, ozone implementation and acid or alkaline solutions at low concentrations. This method is useful for improving the capacity of sub-bituminous coal for absorbing cyanide, in such a manner that it can be removed from industrial or residual water and obtained water with the quality to be reused in the industry, or as a unitary step complementary in the treatments of conventional residual and industrial water.</p> |
