PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a detection system and method using infrared polarized light, which exhibit high sensitivity and less erroneous detection.SOLUTION: The system includes a light source 2, a circularly polarized light separation film 1, a circularly polarized light separation film 2, and a near-infrared light-receiving element. The circularly polarized light separation film 1 and the circularly polarized light separation film 2 may be identical and each selectively transmits either right-handed circularly polarized light or left-handed circularly polarized light in at least a part of a near-infrared wavelength region. The light source, the circularly polarized light separation film 1, the circularly polarized light separation film 2 and the light-receiving element are arranged in such a manner that the light supplied from the light source is transmitted through the circularly polarized light separation film 1 to irradiate an object and that the light transmitted or reflected by the object is further transmitted through the circularly polarized light separation film 2 and detected by the light-receiving element. The circularly polarized light separation film 2 includes a visible light shielding layer 2 that reflects or absorbs light in a wavelength region which is at least a part a visible light wavelength region. The detection method employs the above system. |
