MAP DATA STORAGE DEVICE, MAP DATA UPDATE METHOD, AND COMPUTER PROGRAM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a map data storage device, a map data update method, and a computer program which can reduce a time required for performing update processing of map data compared to conventional ones.SOLUTION: For updating map data 46 stored in a navigation side local database 45 in a navigation device 1, the navigation device 1 is configured to: update the map data 46 stored in the navigation side local database 45 on the basis of map update data received from a map distribution center 3; on the basis of the updated map data 46, create a data reference index 47 which associates PID (permanent identification information) included in the map data 46 with a record number (internal identification information) included in the map data 46; and then, when an application is executed in the navigation device 1, access the map data 46 stored in the navigation side local database 45 by referring to the created data reference index 47.
