PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyester resin of low birefringence or negative birefringence.SOLUTION: The polymerization components of a polyester resin are composed of: a dicarboxylic acid component (A) including a fluorene-based dicarboxylic acid component; and a non-fluorene-based diol component including an aromatic diol (B1). The dicarboxylic acid component (A) may include the fluorene-based dicarboxylic acid component (A1) by 50 mol% or higher, and the diol component (B) may include the aromatic diol (B1) by 50 mol% or higher. The diol component (B) may further include the other diol (B2) composed of aliphatic diol.
