<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a frame precisely, easily and inexpensively, in a process of manufacturing an ornamental frame of precious metal, metal, or resin for gemstones of complicated shapes.SOLUTION: A gemstone of a complicated shape is precisely read out by a three-dimensional scanner, with the data fetched to software for preparing a three-dimensional drawing. In the software for preparing a three-dimensional drawing, a surface in contact with the gemstone is prepared by precisely reproducing an uneven shape with somewhat larger dimension than the gemstone data. Outside surfaces that possibly form an external appearance not in contact with the gemstone are prepared in smooth curved faces or plane surfaces. Then, an original mold is made in a shape to be the frame of the gemstone by using a wax grinder, a resin laminate type three-dimensional printer, or a resin laminate type optical molding apparatus, for example. By the lost wax casting method using the mold, the frame of precious metal, metal or resin is made for the gemstone of a complicated shape.</p> |
