A relay device and a control method for the relay device, whereby virus infections and damage from fraud, as a result of internet access, are prevented beforehand without adding any special restrictions. The relay device (10) that connects a LAN (20) to a wide area network (30) has provided therein: a URL checking means (1510) that determines whether or not a URL is included in an email sent from the wide area network (30) to the LAN (20) and, if a determination is made that a URL is included, registers the URL in a URL database (154d); and a redirection means (1512) that, if access to a web server device in the wide area network (30) from a terminal device in the LAN (20) is detected, determines whether or not a URL corresponding to the web server device is registered in the URL database (154d), displays on the terminal device a redirect screen that asks whether or not to permit internet access, if the URL is registered, and relays internet access if a response is received that access is permitted. |
