PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve precision of motion estimation when motion is small while robustness of the motion estimation when the motion is large is maintained when a motion vector of a video signal is estimated.SOLUTION: A motion estimation apparatus 1 includes: n-pieces (n≥2) of motion estimation sections 10 for estimating a motion vector from an input video signal; and (n-1)-pieces of coefficient control sections 20 for determining a filter coefficient in response to the motion vector. The motion estimation sections 10 and the coefficient control sections 20 are alternately connected in series. The individual coefficient control sections 20 determine the filter coefficient of the motion estimation section 10 connected to a subsequent stage in response to the motion vector inputted from the motion estimation section 10 connected to a pre-stage, and set the motion vector estimated by the motion estimation section 10 in the last stage among n-pieces of motion estimation sections as output of the motion estimation apparatus 1. |
