The purpose of the present invention is to provide a lower cost storage device which satisfies user requirements relating to storage capacity, access performance, and the like, and which allows for addition of storage drives in a manner which is not on a per-RAID group (RG) basis. To achieve this purpose, a storage device is provided with a first storage drive which stores data from a host computer, a second storage drive which has different characteristics than the first storage drive and stores data from the host computer, and a processor which controls the first storage drive and the second storage drive, wherein the processor receives RG configuration requirements from the host computer and determines whether an RG satisfying the RG configuration requirements can be configured, and if it is determined that such an RG can be configured, then the processor configures an RG by combining the first storage drive and the second storage drive. |
