PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sodium secondary battery using a new anode active material having a capacity higher than conventional materials.SOLUTION: A sodium secondary battery 100 includes: a positive pole 13 which has a cathode active material capable of storing and releasing sodium ion; a negative pole 16 which has an anode active material capable of storing and releasing sodium ion; and a nonaqueous electrolyte containing sodium ion. The anode active material contains at least one kind selected from the group of WSand MoS.
