A rotating electrical machine according to the present invention comprises: an inner rotor; an outer rotor; a stator; an input shaft which rotates when a vehicle travels in an RE mode and stops the rotation when the vehicle travels in an EV mode; a slip ring integrally and rotatably mounted on the input shaft and electrically connected to the inner rotor; a brush electrically connected to an inverter and brought into contact with the slip ring; and an ECU which detects the phase angle of the slip ring relative to the brush, stores the phase angle, and stops the rotation of the input shaft at a position where a phase angle (θ) while travelling in the EV mode shifts by a phase difference ofαwith respect to a phase angle (θ) while travelling in the previous EV mode. Thereby, the brush is hardly abraded and the functional reliability of the slip ring improves.
