PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To operate an internal combustion engine under Atkinson cycle in which air in a combustion chamber is not pushed back to a more upstream side than an intake valve during its compression stroke.SOLUTION: Due to this fact, the controlling device for the internal combustion engine is constituted by a load state detecting means, a stroke discriminating means and an air amount control means. When it is detected that a high load state occurs, the stroke discrimination means specifies the cylinder of which next stroke is a compression stroke and then a more upstream side flow passage than the intake valve of the cylinder of which next stroke is specified as a compression stroke is closed by the air amount control means. In addition, the control device for the internal combustion engine comprises a load state detecting means, the number of revolution detecting means, a stroke discriminating means and an air amount control means. When a high loaded state is detected and the number of revolution of the internal combustion engine is detected as more than a set value, the cylinder of which next stroke is a compression stroke is specified by the stroke discriminating means and a more upstream side flow passage than the intake valve of the cylinder of which next stroke is specified as a compression stroke is closed by the air amount control means.
|
