An optical film which is formed from a copolymer containing 40-90% by weight of a constituent unit that is derived from methyl methacrylate, 2-35% by weight of a constituent unit that is derived from a (meth)acrylamide represented by formula (1) and 0-30% by weight of a constituent unit that is derived from a (meth)acrylate represented by formula (2) is provided as an optical film that has excellent heat resistance and a low photoelastic constant and is capable of uniform polarization control over a wide wavelength range, while maintaining the natural transparency of an acrylic resin.
