This invention provides a pneumatic tire that improves rolling performance and wear resistance and reduces noise without decreasing wet performance. Said pneumatic tire (1) is provided with a plurality of main grooves (3) in a tread section (2). Each main groove (3) has, in a cross-section perpendicular to the lengthwise direction of said groove, a first floor (3A) and a pair of first walls (3B, 3B) that extend smoothly from said first floor (3A) towards the tread surface (S). The width (W1) of each main groove (3) between the first walls (3B) thereof at the tread surface (S) is between 2.0 and 20.0 mm, inclusive, and the depth (D) of each main groove (3) from the tread surface (S) to the first floor (3A) of said main groove (3) is at least 10.0 mm. For each main groove (3), the quotient (W1/α) of the width (W1, in millimeters) of that main groove (3) and the angle (α, in degrees) that the first walls (3B) of said main groove (3) make with a normal to the tread surface (S) is between 1.0 and 2.0 mm/°, inclusive. |
