PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To evaluate the joint strength of a soft weld joint whose relative thickness Xis not smaller than 1.SOLUTION: A width/thickness ratio W/t of a test piece whose joint strength becomes substantially the same as the strength of a base material has a tendency to be increased as a relative thickness Xbecomes large. In the actual weld joint, it is very unusual that the relative thickness Xexceeds 2. From this view point, it has been found that the joint strength of a soft weld joint whose relative thickness Xis not small than 1 can be evaluated by using a wide-width test piece whose width/thickness ratio W/t is not lower than 15. When the width/thickness ratio W/t is lower than 15, a sufficient plasticity constraint effect cannot be obtained, and the joint strength of the soft weld joint whose relative thickness Xis not smaller than 1 cannot be evaluated. |
