<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel property detection device for an engine, which effectively detects fuel density with a simple configuration.SOLUTION: The fuel property detection device for an engine which injects high pressure fuel accumulated in a common rail 12 from an injector 20 directly into a cylinder, includes a common rail pressure sensor 30 for detecting a pressure in the common rail 12, and a fuel density computation part for computing a cycle of pressure pulsation of the common rail 12 due to fuel injection, a pressure drop, and the reduction amount of fuel from the common rail 12 on the basis of a sensor value of the common rail pressure sensor 30, and computing fuel density from a predetermined physical formula showing relationships between each of the computation values and each of the volume modulus, pipe wall thickness, reflection end length, capacity, and inner diameter of the common rail 12.</p> |
