METHOD FOR TRANSMITTING SHORT MESSAGES

A notice is sent to a subscriber (60) of the telecommunications network (10) as a function of a short message (5) transmitted to the telecommunications network (10) for the subscriber (60). With the notice, data that include items of information about the makeup and/or content of the short message (5) are transmitted to the subscriber (60).

1. A method performed by a subscriber station in a radio telecommunications network for receiving a short message addressed to the subscriber station having a multimedia content including at least one of audio data and image data, the method comprising:
receiving from a central station a notification message, the notification message including information about a makeup and/or content of the short message; evaluating the content of the notification message, selecting apart of the short message for further processing; as a result of the evaluating, sending a selection message to the telecommunications network, the selection message instructing the telecommunications network to transmit the selected part only of the short message to the subscriber station.
