PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device having high reading performance and allowing cost reduction.SOLUTION: The display device comprises: a display panel PNL having a counter substrate 20 and an array substrate 10 holding a liquid crystal layer therebetween; a counter electrode CE provided on the counter substrate; pixel electrodes PE arranged on the array substrate in matrix; a sensor circuit 12 arranged between rows of the pixel electrodes and reading the amplitude of capacitive coupling with a dielectric; and a counter electrode drive circuit CD driving a common voltage applied to the counter electrode in a pulse manner in a period for driving the sensor circuit. The sensor circuit has a detection electrode 12E forming capacitance between the dielectric and the detection electrode and forming capacitance between the counter electrode and the detection electrode. The counter electrode has an opening at least including a portion opposite to the detection electrode.
