Abstract Humane bitless headgear with an innovative elastic jaw strap (7), aimed at improving the quality of ride by helping horses become calm and physically balanced while under the influence of the rider. The elastic jaw strap on this headgear avoids the negative elements of bits, hackamores and bitless bridles: Advantageous effects of the elastic jaw strap include: * Enables chewing and free movement of the jaws, improving relaxation * Holds the noseband steady for clear aids, improving confidence and co operation. * Creates a consistent but non-restrictive noseband pressure, avoiding injury or excessive pain to the horse's head, and subsequent fear behaviours * Allows movement of jaws, which inform the rider of the horse's level of tension or relaxation, and training progress. Reins attach to D-rings (3) on the noseband (10), located to enable subtle lateral positioning of the horse's head to improve the horse's balance point under the weight of the rider, improving longevity, submission and athleticism.
