<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To recognize a region concerning a desired subject as a main subject without being divided. <P>SOLUTION: A control method of an image processing system comprises processes of: dividing each image imaged in succession into a plurality of blocks; generating a histogram of the image based on signal values of each block; dividing the generated histogram into a plurality of sections; setting regions so that adjacent blocks, among a plurality of blocks of the image, whose signal values belong to a same section become one region; calculating an evaluation value for each region; and determining whether a second region, having an evaluation value whose difference from the highest evaluation value is less than or equal to a prescribed threshold, exists or not. An image processing system determines a first region having the highest evaluation value as a main subject region if any second region does not exist and determines a region combining a first and a second regions as a main subject region if a second region exists. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT</p> |
