摘要 The invention relates to a method for reinforcing the mechanical properties of a plant fiber, including applying axial tensile stresses onto the plant fiber, the applied tensile stresses being between 1% and 70%, preferably 10%, of the breaking stress of the plant fiber, and the relative humidity of the air surrounding the plant fiber being initially equal to the ambient relative humidity (HRa), then optionally decreased to a value (HR1) of at most 20% relative humidity, then increased to a value (HR2) of between 75% and 100%, preferably between 80% and 95%, and more preferably 90% relative humidity, and then decreased to a value (HR3) of at most 25%, preferably between 5% and 20%, and more preferably 10% relative humidity. The invention further relates to the use of said method to reinforce the mechanical properties of plant fibers, and to the plant fibers that can be produced by said method.
