PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water-based ink composition for a ball-point pen, hardly causing corrosion of a ball or a ball-point pen tip with time, and having excellent writing performance while maintaining good writing quality with excellent ink jetting properties, and hardly causing falling off of the ball, and to provide the ball-point pen containing the ink composition. SOLUTION: There are provided the water-based ink composition for the ball-point pen containing at least a pigment, water, and a triazinethiol derivative represented by formula (1) [wherein, R<SB POS="POST">1</SB>is SH, SNa, NHC<SB POS="POST">6</SB>H<SB POS="POST">5</SB>or N(C<SB POS="POST">4</SB>H<SB POS="POST">9</SB>)<SB POS="POST">2</SB>; and R<SB POS="POST">2</SB>and R<SB POS="POST">3</SB>are each SH or SNa], and the ball-point pen containing the ink composition.
