PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide improved fuel consumption by decreasing cooling loss of an engine. SOLUTION: An internal combustion engine comprises a drive shaft 213, an oscillating cam 220, an engine valve 211, an oscillation shaft 216b, a locker arm 217, a first link 225, a second link 226, an oscillation shaft displacing means 250 for changing an operation angle or lift amount of the engine valve 211 by relatively displacing the oscillation shaft 216b with respect to the drive shaft 213, in which an opening time of the engine valve 211 is retarded as the operation angle or lift amount of the engine valve 211 is enlarged.
