<p>A method for supporting FBSS(Fast Base Station Switching) in a multi-FA(Frequency Allocation) wireless communication system is provided to offer services to MSs(Mobile Stations) seamlessly by supporting FBSS in a wireless communication system which uses a plurality of FAs. A first BS(Base Station), which operates two FAs, transmits neighbor BS information to an MS through FA 1 having BSID 1(305). The MS executes scanning, based on the neighbor BS information(307). Then, if the MS transmits a diversity set update request message to request the first BS to update a diversity set(309), the first BS exchanges FBSS-associated backbone information with neighbor BSs(311). Then the first BS transmits a diversity set update response message to the MS(313). Receiving the diversity set update response message, the MS transmits a diversity set update indication message to the first BS through FA 1(315). Using a CQI(Channel Quality Indicator) channel allocated through FA 1, the MS monitors the FAs contained in the diversity set. As a result, if it is judged that switching to one of the FAs is required, the MS transmits a switch indication message to the first BS through the CQI channel(319). In this case, the switch indication message contains the BSID information of a new FA. On the assumption that the new FA is the second BS's FA 1 having BSID 3, the first BS informs the second BS that the MS will execute switching to FA 1 having BSID 3(321).</p> |
