An electrical discharge machine or EDT apparatus includes a mount 3, at least one electrode 10, and a dielectric bath 9 for holding dielectric fluid and providing the fluid between the electrode and workpiece surface. A drip bath 21 catches spills from the workpiece and returns the fluid back to the dielectric bath and a return system moves fluid spilled from the dielectric bath back to the dielectric bath. The drip bath may be an elongate trough, include a funnel 23, be positioned underneath the workpiece to catch the fluid as it falls, and include a pump 13 to urge the fluid back into the dielectric bath. The return system may include a spill bath 19, which catches overflowing fluid falling from the edges of the dielectric bath and deposits the fluid into the drip bath. The EDT apparatus may be of a type in which the workpiece is not submerged in dielectric fluid. A sensor may detect the level of fluid in the drip bath and activate the pump. The apparatus may be used for texturing a work roll. |
