Internal combustion engine equipped with two turbochargers and method to operate such an engine

The engine (1) has two exhaust-gas turbochargers comprising turbines (8a, 9a) with inlet regions (8a', 9a') connected to two overall exhaust lines (7a, 7b), respectively. The lines are spaced apart from one another along a longitudinal axis of a cylinder head (2). The head comprises a balcony-like projection (10) that is arranged between the lines emerging from the head. Two sides of the projection face toward turbines and comprise an opening that is connected to outlet regions of the turbines. Ducts are adjoined with the opening and merged to form a common line emerging from the projection. The turbine is formed as an activatable turbine. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a supercharged internal combustion engine.
